Valium (Diazepam) Is Commonly Used As An Anxiolytic And Muscle Relaxant

Valium (diazepam) is used as an anxiolytic and muscle relaxant. Diazepam is a regulated benzodiazepine drug. It provides a calm effect on many body systems. No matter the reason a dog is given diazepam, it should only be given under the direct advisement of a licensed veterinary professional. Diazepsam can interact with many medications. It should not be used in pregnant or nursing females. The drug may adversely affect unborn fetuses or nursing dogs. See here for more information. It can sometimes cause a reverse reaction where the animal becomes more excitable and difficult to manage. If you suspect your pet is sick, call your vet immediately. Always consult your doctor for health-related questions. . . .
