How To Keep Your Ferrets Cool While You'Re On The Road Or Away From Home
Ferrets are prone to heat stress. The ideal temperature for them is in the low 70-degree Fahrenheit range. If central air isn't feasible, use a room-sized air conditioner. Make sure that the fan is not directed right at the ferret cage. Wash empty plastic cases and freeze them to keep them cool. Wrap the bottles in a towel and put them in the cage. Let your ferrets play in cool shallow water in the tub or small pool. A gentle misting of water can cool down ferrets. Check that all windows have secure screens. Use a frozen water bottle if the power fails and the air conditioning goes off. If you are away from home for a while, use the back-up. . . .
